Steps to Prevent Porch Piracy

Steps to Prevent Porch Piracy

It is so important to track your packages. We email shipping confirmations to the email you entered at checkout. It is important to check your spam/junk folders for the tracking numbers in they do not arrive in your inbox. You might add to your allowed senders.

Here are some tips to help prevent loss or stolen packages.

  • Track your packages. Most carriers will let you enter your email address to be notified for updates and deliveries.
  • Sometimes packages get delivered to a wrong address by the carrier. Look around your house as delivery drivers can be different and not familiar with your preference for deliveries (garage, front porch, etc.) Also check with neighbors, in case the driver left with them for signature required.
  •  If still not found after the tracking shows delivery notification, contact us to file a claim with the carrier. Send us an email with the details. There is usually a few days turn around for claim response and replacement.
  • If for any reason the order is not covered for replacement, you can check with your credit card company to see if you have purchase protection or file a homeowners insurance claim (high value items).
  • High value items will require a police report for most claims.

Want to prevent packages from being stolen in the first place?

  • Use a shipping address and person who you know can accept the delivery or sign for it.
  • Install security cameras on your porch to deter thief or track deliveries. You might get a homeowners discount also for this.
